If the recent speculations are to be believed, India’s largest carmaker Maruti Motors is expected to come out with a completely revised SX4 sedan somewhere near the fall of 2012 as a new 2013 SX4. Let’s get into more details that are concerned to the new rumored model in the following sections.
Basic Information
It appears that the new makeover from the automaker is more likely to make the well-known SX4 sedan the hottest model in the company’s entire lineup. The next gen sedan is expected to sport various fuel options.
The different engine choices that might be offered in the new vehicle include a 1.6-liter multi-jet diesel, and a 1.4-liter K-series petrol power-train. Recently, the company has acquired the multi-jet diesel power-train rights from Fiat Motors.
Under the Bonnet
If the new Sx4 sedan will come equipped with a standard K-series 1.4-liter petrol engine, it will be able to deliver a decent 95bhp and torque of around 130Nm. Conversely, the new 1.6-liter multi-jet inline 4-cylinder diesel engine will maintain the capability of the 2013 model to generate around 105bhp of peak power, and 290Nm of peak torque.
Similar to Swift model, the company may even decide to switch to smaller engine, which could provide smoother
drivability, and better fuel efficiency.
Bottom Line
With a complete overhaul, incorporating new fuel efficient engines, the new Maruti SX4 2013 is expected to enter the Indian market as a total rocking sedan. However, the next gen SX4 had to encounter a hard competition from VW Vento and Hyundai Verna Fluidic.
